kA': A Solo Heb Sed
Written and Performed by Ka'ramuu Kush
Poetry by Jasiri & Movement by Nathan Trice
(Produced in Association with Parhelik Sirkle)
A heb sed is a style of ancient Kemetik drama that serves two functions: to re-enact the reign of the Per'AA (Pharoah), and to revitalize the strength and power of the King. This solo heb sed is set in the lost tomb of the 18th dynasty King Akhenaten. Featuring ritual, dance and incantation, the kA', retrospectively embarks on a sojourn in search of the King's body. During its journey it re-enacts the trials and tribulations of this King's life with the purpose being to complete proper funeral rituals and be at final rest with God.
